FIVE Months

August 9, 2010

Five months - where has the time gone?

This month has been filled of new adventures with Liam. We begin with Liam mastering the art of sitting by himself. We are so proud of him! I love to sit and watch him as he allows himself to fall backwards and hit the floor padded with soft pillows and fuzzy blankets. A huge smile crosses his face as he lies there looking up at the ceiling and then rolls to one side. It is if he is in his own world when my laugh interrupts his thoughts. It's the small things that bring such joy.

Here are a few pictures of Liam sitting alone.

This is such a better view.
Look at me Mom!
This looks good.
Let's play.

Some of the other milestones that Liam has reached this past month are:

1. Holding head steady when upright
2. Able to raise his chest supported by his arms when lying on stomach
3. Squeal in delight, which usually starts early in the morning
4. Reach and grasp for objects - Liam can also move an object from one hand to the other with ease
5. Smile spontaneously - the best way to start the day
6. Smile back when JB or I smile at him
7. Babble, combining vowels and consonants

We have not mastered rolling over yet. Currently, Liam will roll to one side and then get stuck. He is not sure how to move his arms or even the rest of his body to the other side. He is not crawling, but will lay on his stomach and scoot his way around the floor. We hope to see crawling in the near future.

Although Liam is not crawling, he is standing. He loves to stand on my lap (really on the lap of anyone) and sway from side to side or attempt to pick up his feet very fast. We just started - lean to the left, lean to the right, now rock with me. I will try and get this on video. He loves the rock with me part. ;)

We have a Talker on Our Hands

July 6, 2010

Liam found his voice today. What an amazing experience for both of us. ;) When he first started talking I don't think that he realized that it was his voice. So, he looked around and when his gaze was met with praise he flashed his adorable smile.

First Walk

May 10, 2010

Today, I decided to go for a walk with Liam. It was finally a great day outside and we needed to get out of this apartment. So, I gathered a few items I would need for Liam, a bottle of water for myself and began the journey down the three flights of stairs. As you can imagine, this took me more than a few mins. since I had to take the stroller and Liam in his car seat down 10 steps at a time.

Finally, we made it and what a great day to be out. We were on a walk for over an hour when I realized that I needed to head back soon. It was almost time for Liam to eat and I did not bring a bottle. I wish I could say the trip upstairs went as smooth as it did downstairs. Unfortunately, when you have a hungry little man and no bottle, you are going to run into trouble. This was my fault - sorry Liam. Enjoy the pictures from the walk. We enjoyed the west loop walk.

Liam Learns to Pay Music

Wednesday, May 26, 2010

Today Liam and I were in the kitchen cleaning up a few things. In order for me to be productive, I sit Liam in his chair to keep him entertained. He typically will only stay in the chair for 15 - 30 minutes at a time. If I dance around and sing to him I can get a solid 30 mins. easy.

Well, today Liam was sitting in his chair as I buzzed around the kitchen. I went to throw some trash away when I heard music playing. I quickly came around the corner to see my little man in his chair with a smile. He did it - he pulled the cord to start the music all on his own. I cannot tell you how proud I was of him and this is all before three months. What a smarty. ;)

Liam's First Bath

This is a little late, but here is Liam taking his first bath after the umbilical cord fell off.

Happy Mother's Day

May 9, 2010

Happy Mother's Day to the wonderful women I have been blessed with in my life. It feels great to join the club of motherhood. Thank you Liam for making this day so special. I love you to pieces.

Here is A Newborn's Conversation with God - Enjoy (sorry so long)

A baby asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow,
but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"

God said, "Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you."

The child further inquired, "But tell me, here in heaven I don't have
to do anything but sing and smile to be happy.."

God said, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you.
And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy."

Again the small child asked, "And how am I going to be able to understand
when people talk to me if I don't know the language?"

God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words
you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will
teach you how to speak."

"And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?"

God said, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach
you how to pray."

"Who will protect me?"

God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life."

"But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore."

God said, "Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach
you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you."

At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth
could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am to leave
now, please tell me my angel's name."

God said, You will simply call her, "Mom."
